Bronx Men Nabbed in Wilton for Credit Card Fraud: Police

They took $1,000 as 'cash back' on purchases with somebody else's credit card, police say.

WILTON, CT — Police charged two men with larceny and fraudulent use of credit cards at a supermarket in town.

Wilton police answered a call about a disturbance involving customers and an employee at the Stop & Shop on 5 River Road on July 3 around 5:45 p.m. From a description of the customers' car given in the 911 call, the officers say they were able to locate the suspect vehicle, a 2015 Mercedes C4, traveling southbound on Ridgefield Road.

Police say the occupants of the car, Moshin Patel, 22, and Ammar Kiswani, 21, both of the Bronx, NY, were involved in the disturbance at the Stop and Shop.

According to the police report, Ammar was making multiple purchases when he triggered the suspicion of store employees. When he was questioned by a store worker about his activity, Ammar began to yell and curse at the employee. Mohsin saw the dust up between Ammar and the employee, and began to yell and curse as well. Ammar completed the five purchases on a credit card, and requested $200 back with each of the purchases before both men left the store, according to police.

An investigation revealed the credit card used for the five purchases did not belong to Ammar or Mohsin, and they did not have permission to use it. Police say that Ammar admitted to using the card to make the purchase even though he did not know the owner of the card.

Ammar was in possession of $600 cash and Mohsin was in possession of $400 cash. Both stashes were in $20 denominations, and police say the men indicated the money was from the cash back requested in the Stop & Shop transactions.

Ammar and Mohsin were arrested and charged with fourth-degree larceny, second-degree breach of peace, fraudulent use of credit card (Over $500) and third-degree identity theft. Both men were released on $2,500 cash bond and are scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on July 12.
