Coronavirus CT: Positivity Rate Drops Back Below 3%
The number of Connecticut residents hospitalized with the virus also dropped overnight, by three, to 360 beds.
CONNECTICUT — The coronavirus positivity rate in the state made an abrupt about face on Wednesday, dropping back below 3 percent.
The 2.97 percent COVID-19 positivity reported by the state Department of Public Health is more in line with the rest of the month of August, where the rate hovered around 3.5 percent.
The state reported an additional 712 cases, across 23,994 tests.

The Centers for Disease Control had reported that before the spread of the more transmissible delta variant, 97 percent of those hospitalized were unvaccinated. Ongoing clinical trials are indicating that the ability of the coronavirus vaccines to keep a person out of the hospital is now between 75-95 percent.
