UPDATE: COVID-19 In Wilton: July 4th Fireworks Canceled

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Wilton.

WILTON, CT — First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice announced that the town has canceled its traditional Independence Day activities, including the fireworks display. The decision was made the Board of Selectmen meeting held Monday night.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health has confirmed that 162 cases of the new coronavirus have been reported in Wilton as of Monday, and 33 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

Statewide, there were 61 more deaths and 24 fewer net hospitalizations reported Monday along with 886 positive cases out of 2,837 tests. The total number of confirmed deaths is now at 2,566.

Connecticut saw its 12th consecutive day of fewer coronavirus hospitalizations along with slightly fewer daily reported deaths. Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven counties are now on the downward trend of coronavirus infections, said Gov. Ned Lamont.
