On Sunday, December 4 at 4:00pm, the Arts at St. Matthew’s welcomes back the Manhattan Choral Ensemble (MCE) to sing their holiday concert, “Joy!” This is a wonderful way to herald the season with spectacular music right here in Wilton! MCE is a premier 40-voice community based choir dedicated to the performance of an international and historically varied repertoire. All of these young professionals work in New York City, but because of their passionate interest in music and singing, came together several years ago to form what has come to be known as a highly acclaimed and talented choir (and many of the members are from our area!).

In celebration of New York City’s rich heritage, the MCE performs in New York landmarks and creates concert events in partnership with the city’s cultural organizations. The MCE also fosters the musical life of the city through innovative commissioning projects focused on New York City’s composers.
The Ensemble’s performance on December 4 will celebrate universal sentiments that are part of the Christmas experience. With a theme of “Joy,” the concert will include choral works and topical readings from diverse perspectives exploring the meaning of joy and its expressions. MCE is a popular group in the city and the Arts at St. Matthew’s is fortunate to have them come to Wilton for their only Connecticut performance.
For 14 seasons, The Arts at St. Matthew’s has fulfilled its mission to bring the beauty of the arts and the warmth of the parish to the community-at-large. The MCE concert continues that tradition. Tickets (Regular tickets $25, Patron tickets—preferred seating— $40 and student tickets $10) are available on line at www.stmatthewswilton.org, at the church office (203-762-7400, or at the Open House Gift Shop in Wilton Center. The concert will be performed at St. Matthew’s Church, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton.
