A lightning strike and several overheating vehicles mark the week for the fire department.

Friday, May 28, 2010

  • 12:30 AM: Blue Ridge Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 5:08 AM: Thayer Pond Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:50 AM: Danbury Road, Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 4:07 PM: Nod Hill Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 5:55 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.

  • 6:44 AM: Fox Run Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:04 AM: Signal Hill, overheated vehicle.  Report of a possible car fire, upon arrival FD personnel found steam coming from the engine compartment, upon investigation determined to be an overheated vehicle.
  • 10:46 AM: Danbury Road, fire alarm.  Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 1:39 PM: Boston Road, motor vehicle accident.  Single car vs. utility pole.  Firefighter assisted with treating an injured party, and contained and cleaned up a fluid spill.
  • 2:18 PM: Carriage Road, odor investigation.  Upon investigation source determined to be leakage from a propane tank.   FD personnel metered house, no readings found.
  • 3:01 PM: Warncke Road, fire alarm.  Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 5:16 PM Belden Hill Road, utility pole fire.  Upon arrival firefighters observed wires burning on a utility pole.  CL&P requested and area secured.
  • 5:59 PM: Old Kingdom Road, lightning strike.  A house was struck by lightning, cause in damage to electrical system, and smoke to fill the building.  FD personnel checked for fire, none found.  Firefighters also shut off power to effected areas, ventilated and metered the building and requested CL&P to the location.
  • 6:18 PM: Brushy Ridge Road, New Canaan, mutual aid.  Wilton FD requested mutual aid to assist New Canaan Fire with an incident, Wilton unit cancelled in route.
  • 7:18 PM: Danbury Road, fire alarm.  Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 9:35 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Wednesday, June 2

  • 12:34 AM: Great Rocks Place, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 8:33 AM: Hurlbutt Street, over heated motor.  Report of a school bus on fire, upon arrival FD personnel found no fire, but an over heated motor.  FD personnel contained and cleaned up a fluid spill.
  • 12:55 AM: Old Huckleberry Road, possible hazardous materials spill.  Report of a strange material in the reservoir.  Upon investigation material determined to be pollen.
  • 9:04 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Thursday, June 3

  • 11:00 AM: Hollyhock Lane, fire alarm.  Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards present.
  • 2:52 PM: Rices Lane, Westport, mutual aid.  Wilton FD requested to assist Westport Fire Department with a structure fire.  Wilton provided personnel to assist with extinguishment, as a well cover Westport Fire Headquarters.
  • 2:49 PM: Wilton Crest, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 3:57 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 9:09 PM: Millstone Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.

Friday, June 4

  • 7:20 AM: Ridgefield Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 2:37 PM: Danbury Road, odor investigation. Report of a strange odor in the building.  Firefighters investigated and metered the building, source determined to be a gasoline can in the garage.
  • 10:40 PM: Hurlbutt Street, smoke in the area.  Report of smoke in the area, upon investigation source determined to be a bon fire.  Fire was extinguished and resident advised of burning regulations.
