1. 6 Wilton High School Students Named National Merit Semifinalists (patch.com) — Wilton families can celebrate six Wilton High School seniors who have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them among the top-scoring students in the country. These students now move forward in a rigorous process that could earn them part of $24 million in scholarships to be awarded next spring.

Wilton BOS Approves School Building Committee (goodmorningwilton.com) — Wilton's Board of Selectmen has unanimously created a dedicated School Building Committee and authorized a search for an owner's agent to oversee upcoming school construction projects. Despite First Selectman Toni Boucher's concerns about invoice approval and staff workload, other selectmen emphasized protecting state reimbursement and adding capacity beyond the overburdened DPW. A separate municipal building committee will be debated at a later meeting.

Wilton CFO Took Over Consultant's Unfinished FY25 Work (goodmorningwilton.com) — Wilton's chief financial officer has taken over unfinished fiscal 2025 reconciliation work from a high-priced consultant, delaying detailed fiscal 2026 budget reports the Board of Finance has sought for months. Board members voiced frustration over late audits, unanswered questions about consulting costs, and legal guidance on budget transfers. These delays affect oversight of tax dollars and even Board of Education budgeting.

Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Bristol Central (maxpreps.com) — Wilton volleyball fans can look ahead to a home matchup as Warde travels to take on Wilton at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, giving the Mustangs their first in-conference test. Warde enters on a four-game road win streak, while Bristol Central regroups after a straight-set loss, setting up an early-season gauge for Wilton's competitiveness.

Frederick Lack Sawabini (vtdigger.org) — Many longtime residents will remember Frederick Lack Sawabini, who with his wife Gay raised their three children in Wilton before later returning to Vermont. He passed away at 74 after a long illness, and a memorial service is planned for September 18 in Charlotte, Vermont, with donations suggested to support cancer research in his honor.
