Former Wiltonian Gets Five Years in Crash that Claimed Thomas Fleming

Gregory Dionisio, 22, was sentenced to five years in jail Thursday stemming from a motor vehicle accident last March that claimed the life of Wiltonian Thomas Fleming.

The plea deal Dionisio reached in March lowers the maximum allowable terms from ten years, though if Dionisio violates the terms of his probation after his release, he will be forced to serve out whatever is left of the full term.

The Stamford Advocate reported that Dionisio, "who drank his own urine in an attempt to cover up the fact he had taken drugs before running over and killing a Wilton man on his motorcycle," also asked his attorney, John Thygerson, not to argue for the shortest allowable time.

"Thygerson said it was the first time in his 15-year career that any client asked him not to argue for the least amount of jail time," the Advocate wrote.

Dionisio's charges stem from last year's motor vehicle accident when, according to police records, he was headed north on Ridgefield Road, veered into the opposite lane and struck Fleming, 50, who was riding his motorcycle. Both were taken to Norwalk Hospital, where Fleming died from injuries he sustained during the accident.

Toxicology results showed Dionisio as having a .09 percent blood alcohol content, as well as carrying a number of drugs in his system at the time of the accident, including cocaine, ecstasy and THC (the active ingredient in marijuana).
