Historic and Trendy Cannondale

Today I thought we could explore the Cannondale section of Wilton. This area is a quaint and charming section of town where you get the feeling that you have transported back in time. Cannondale Railroad Station, Cannon Crossing and many antique farm style homes make up this part of Wilton. The land was first settled on in the 17th century. Originally call “Pimpewaug” by the Indians the name was later changed to Cannon after a prominent family in the area. The Cannon family owned the general store and later played a key role in the opening of a post office at the Cannon train station. In November of 1915 the final name of Cannondale was given to this historic part of Wilton. Although the area looks old-fashioned, today there are stylish stores such as Bella & Co. and a very trendy restaurant. The Schoolhouse at Cannondale is a wonderful and modern restaurant, the owner and chef is a Wilton native.
