Library Exceeds Annual Fundraising Goal
The Annual Friends Campaign sees great success.

Today is the last day of the Wilton Library's Annual Friends Campaign and the message is clear: the library has a lot of generous supporters.
Director Kathy Leeds reported this morning that the library has exceeded its $200,000 goal by around $17,000. With the rest of the day yet to receive additional contributions, the campaign could match or exceed the institution's highest fundraising total ever, which Leeds estimated was $219,000.
"It's an incredible show of support, especially under the economic circumstances," Leeds said.

It is also an affirmation of the library's mission: "Informed and inspired minds; enriched and connected lives." During the economic downturn, the library has been an incredible resource for job seekers and those looking to turn professional pitfalls into future success.
"I think that the library has come up to bat for all the people in this town who are searching for jobs," said selectmen Hal Clark in a January meeting. "The incredible contribution you have made to them both from an assistance standpoint and a morale standpoint is probably the highest and the proudest moment the Wilton Library has had certainly in the 25 years in this town...you are at the front lines of this very difficult time for so many people and you've risen to that challenge."

Clearly, the community has recognized and rewarded the library for its commitment to them.
