Police Nab Alleged Israeli Sign Thief: Wilton Arrest Log June 10-16

On June 12, Emmett Miller, 20, of Hickory Hill Road in Wilton turned himself in on an active arrest warrant following an investigation into stolen Israeli yard signs from various areas in town.
The arrest came following 17 individual complaints of Israel-themed yard signs stolen between Oct. 30 and March 20. Miller was identified as a suspect and later interviewed at his residence, where police discovered 20 of the signs. The signs were seized by the Wilton Police Department.

Miller was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He was released after posting a court ordered $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 24.
On June 11 at around 1:18 in the morning, Wilton police pulled over a 2021 Mazda 3 they say was traveling northbound on Danbury Road at a high rate of speed. Further investigation indicated the driver, Christopher Couto, 29, of Woodridge Lane in New Fairfield, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the police report. Couto admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, and failed to perform the standardized field sobriety tests to standard, police said.

Couto submitted to chemical testing, and the results indicated blood alcohol concentration of 0.1656 and 0.1516 consecutively, according to police. Connecticut residents 21 and older are considered to be legally intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08 or higher.
Police charged Couto with DUI and speeding, and released him after he posted 7 percent of his $300 bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on June 21.
On June 16 at around 12:30 a.m., Wilton police were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries at the intersection of Ridgefield Road and Drum Hill Road. Following their investigation, police said the driver, John Capilli, 24, of Millstone Court in Ridgefield, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Capilli admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash, according to police. He submitted to chemical testing, and the results indicated blood alcohol concentration of 0.1717 and 0.1526.
Police charged Capilli with DUI, failure to obey a stop sign, and speeding. He was released after posting 7 percent of his $300 bond and is scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on June 26.
On June 3 at around 8:13 p.m., police say the driver of a Honda Civic ran a red light on Danbury Road at the intersection with Ridgefield Road and crashed into the front end of a Jeep Grand Jerokee turning into the Gulf station there. Both cars needed to be towed, and the Honda driver was taken to Norwalk Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to police. He was also served an infraction for failure to obey a traffic signal and failure to drive right.
A Redding motorist driving northbound on Ridgefield Road north of the intersection with Belden Hill Road at 12:25 p.m. on June 16 blacked out and took down a number of mailboxes and a utility pole.
The Chevrolet Silverado blew down the east side of Ridgefield Road, striking the mailboxes of
#120 and #122 before re-entering the northbound lane. It then left the roadway again, striking an Eversource pole near 166 Ridgefield Road. The impact dropped wires, shutting down the road for several hours while Eversource workers repaired the damage.
The driver told police he did not remember what happened, and EMS determined he was suffering from a medical emergency, according to their report. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation.
