Police Nab Two Motorists for DUI in Wilton
Wilton police stopped two motorists over the weekend for erratic driving and later charged both with DUI.

WILTON, CT — Police stopped two motorists over the weekend for erratic driving and later charged both with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, around 11:10 p.m., Wilton police stopped a Chevrolet Equinox after it was observed swerving and almost colliding with another vehicle while traveling in the northbound lane of Danbury Road. Officers gave a standardized field sobriety test to the driver, Erica Torres, 41, of Norden Place in Norwalk, and then placed her under arrest for DUI. While in custody, police say Torres was given a breath test and her blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.1459,
According to the police report, Torres became verbally abusive to the officers during the booking process and urinated on the floor of the jail cell.

Police charged Torres with DUI, failure to drive right, and failure to carry her registration and insurance cards. Torres posted the $260 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 13.
On Sunday, Aug. 4, at about 9:30 p.m., a Wilton officer traveling northbound on Danbury Road stopped a BMW sedan traveling southbound after he observed it swerve into his lane.

The officer reported that he "smelled an odor of alcohol" coming from the vehicle, driven by Christian Schoellauf, 33, of State Street in New Haven. Schoellauf initially told police that he had not drunk any alcohol, but then admitted he had had "two beers at a friend's house in Danbury," according to the police report.
Police asked Schoellauf to complete standard field sobriety tests, "which he eventually stopped and told officers they 'knew he was drunk, so what's the point?'" according to police.
Schoellauf was given a breath test while in custody, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.2719, according to police. He was charged with DUI and failure to drive on the right. He posted his $260 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 15.
