Rice & Beans and Global Hunger

Rice & Beans and Global Hunger

For six weeks (Wednesdays from Sept. 30 to Nov. 4), we are concentrating on how we can be a part of ending hunger. We will have speakers tell us about what they are doing locally and around the globe to alleviate hunger, and then give us ways to be involved. A representative from Stop Hunger Now will tell us how they are feeding people around the world through local initiatives like the one we host in Wilton on Saturday Oct, 3.; Christine Browder from the Texas Hunger Initiative will describe their work to feed every child in Texas; and Lane Riley from Delta Hands for Hope will tell us how her organization provided over 10,000 meals in the state of Mississippi this summer; and we will hear other local leaders who are engaged in hunger initiatives in Wilton, Norwalk, and New York City.

As we learn about these initiatives and opportunities, we will share a simple meal of rice & beans. These will be tasty meals, but simple meals so that we can experience some level of solidarity with people all over the world who face food insecurity.

Please join us for our meals started at 6:30 PM every Wednesday starting Sept.30. You can register by simply e-mailing (wiltonbaptistchurch.org)  or calling ( 203-762-2429) . Kids are welcomed and childcare will be provided for smaller children.
