"SPLASH"

C. Parker Gallery welcomes you to beat the heat with them from August 6th-September 7th, 2015

Just when there seems to be no relief from the heat and humidity of summer, the C. Parker Gallery offers a refreshing respite.

“SPLASH” a group exhibition celebrates the wondrous days of summer. Selected members of the gallery’s roster in conjunction with several guest artists use both traditional iconography and contemporary metaphor to explore summer’s bounty.

Highlights of the exhibition are Elizabeth Lennie’s large-scale waterscapes which vividly capture the essence of the summer season. Lennie layers thin washes with thicker impasto techniques to attain an abundance of surface reflection and luminosity. Painter Nora Jackson employs an abstract, minimalist approach to rendering the seascape. Large color blocks of misty blue and foam green portray her deconstructed vision. For nearly a decade, the Canadian photographer Joshua Jensen Nagle’s has captivated the viewer with his large format photography and panoramic images of beaches and their inhabitants. Complex and wistful, Nagle’s photographs capture the essence of our collective memory and nostalgia.
