Spring Music Workshops Start May 1st
Music on the Hill offers spring workshops for singers and instrumentalists who want to grow as musicians and try something new
Music on the Hill will host May and June workshops for anyone who enjoys making music, whether as a personal pastime or as part of a performing ensemble, with student musicians welcome.
Starting Tuesday, May 1, Artistic Director Ellen Dickinson leads "Making Music Mindfully," a three-session discussion series on mindfulness in practicing, learning and performing. Suitable for both singers and instrumentalists, the workshop explores the music-making process and suggests remedies for self-defeating habits. Some readings will be included.
"Making Music Mindfully" is on Tuesdays, May 1, 8, and 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Music on the Hill space at the WEPCO church complex, 48 New Canaan Road in Wilton. (Follow the walkway behind and beneath the red brick Wilton Presbyterian Church.)
In June, "Bells for Fun!" will build joy and confidence in ringing. This hands-on workshop is for experienced handbell ringers of all levels, and for others with good music-reading skills, including teens. Dickinson leads the workshop on Tuesdays, June 12 and 19, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the WEPCO church complex. An informal performance for friends is planned for Friday evening, June 22.
Both workshops are free. Register in advance by e-mail to ellen@musiconthehillCT.org.
