Summertime Classics: Schubert Mass in E-Flat

The Music on the Hill Summer Chorus performs Franz Schubert's Mass in E-flat with artistic director Ellen Dickinson, conductor. The concert takes place on Thursday, July 27, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Wilton.

This is one of the composer's last major works, rarely performed but filled with the lyrical beauty for which he was admired.

St. Matthew's is located in the WEPCO church complex at 48 New Canaan Road (Rte. #106) in Wilton.

The Summer Chorus, one of Music on the Hill's four performing ensembles, draws singers from across the region to perform a major choral work each July. This is its 15th year; Ms. Dickinson is its founding director. New singers, including students, are always welcome.

About Music on the Hill

Music on the Hill, based in Wilton, is an independent non-profit organization under the leadership of artistic directors David H. Connell (D.M.A.) and Ellen Dickinson (M.M.). It promotes engagement with music by offering workshops, an August Summer Sings! series, and four performing ensembles -- Summer Chorus, Festival Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir. These groups perform, in rotation, six to eight concerts each year, primarily in Wilton, Weston, and Westport.

Music on the Hill ensembles are project-based: participants join for one musical project -- one rehearsal/concert cycle -- at a time. New participants are always welcome.
