Thank you, Coach Fair!

Many years ago, fourteen to be exact, Sarah Fair recognized a need at her daughters school. At the time, her oldest child Josie, was in kindergarten. She wanted to offer another sport for the girls at our small school. For years Our Lady of Fatima School has enjoyed a robust basketball program with most of its students in grades 3 - 8 participating. Sarah began a field hockey program offered to girls in 5th - 8th grade. She found a league to participate in and began her long journey of success with Our Lady of Fatimas Lady Falcons! Sarah built this team based on the schools mission and her own beliefs about sports. We have always maintained a strict no cut policy in all sports. Sarah assembled a team, raised funds to outfit our field with goals and our student athletes with the proper equipment. Under her guidance over the years, many of our teams went undefeated! She had three daughters go through the field hockey program; Josie, Maggie, and Elle along with countless girls who developed a love for the game! Many have gone on to play in area high schools, including her own. This past Monday, Sarah Fair coached her last home game at OLF. Alumni, parents, players, and school and parish administration all attended to wish Sarah well and thank her for showing us all that when you start with character, concern for the kids, and a passion to help –anything is possible! Thank you, Sarah – you will be missed!
