Wilton PD Charge Man With Interfering In Accident Investigation
A New Hampshire man was responsible for last week's asphalt paver accident, but tried to divert the blame, according to Wilton police.
WILTON, CT — Police have charged a New Hampshire man with interfering in their investigation of an accident and diesel fuel leak last week.
The Wilton Police Department responded to the report of an asphalt paving machine that fell off a trailer, leaking diesel fuel and blocking both lanes of traffic on Ridgefield Road around 7:37 Thursday morning.
Elvis Stanley, 28, of Londonderry, NH, identified himself to police as the owner of the paving machine, truck, and trailer. Stanley said the driver of the truck was his employee named Luis, but was unable to provide police with a phone number or any basic information about his employee.

After speaking with multiple officers over the course of a 60-minute investigation, Stanley finally admitted that he was actually the driver of the truck.
Wilton police charged Stanley with interfering with the duties of a police officer. The truck, trailer, and load were all inspected by Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles police, who charged Stanley with multiple motor vehicle violations they say led to the cause of the accident.
