Wilton Police Arrest Log For Aug. 21-27

WILTON, CT — An attempted burglary, two DUIs and a cooking oil siphoning scheme were at the top of the Wilton Police Department's blotter last week.
The Wilton police are investigating an attempted burglary at the Grassy Plain Smoke Shop located at 991 Danbury Road in Wilton. According to the police, an unknown person attempted to pry open a rear door and a rear window to the business early Sunday morning. The window sustained minor damage, but no entry was gained into the business. This case remains open.
Shortly before 5:30 in the morning Friday, Wilton police responded to a report of a possible crash on Danbury Road near the Ridgefield Town Line. Upon arrival, officers discovered a gray 2023 Toyota Camry stopped in the middle of the northbound lane of Danbury Road. The car was occupied by Evin Burgos, 31, of Light Street in Stratford, unconscious in the driver's seat, according to police.

After forcing entry into the Camry, police officers were able to wake Burgos, and suspected him to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. After being evaluated by EMS, Burgos refused to submit to the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He was charged with reckless driving, DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of between 1.5 and 5 ounces of marijuana. Burgos was released after posting a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 7.
On Thursday, at around 2 o'clock in the morning, Wilton Police discovered a white 2021 Ford F150 parked illegally across numerous spots in the 14 Danbury Road parking lot. The driver, Hector Camacho-Mateus, 56, of Old Farm Road in Weston, was asleep behind the wheel.

Police say that Camacho-Mateus appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving. After failing to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to standard, he submitted to chemical testing, which indicated blood alcohol levels of 0.1138 and 0.1201 consecutively.
Camacho-Mateus was charged with DUI and released from custody after posting 10 percent of his $250 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 7.
On Aug. 21, at around 2:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Gateway shopping plaza at 14 Danbury Road. There they saw a white 2005 GMC Savana G2500 cargo van in the rear of Outback Steakhouse.
After an investigation, police say they learned that driver Julio Leon-Castano, 43, of Sellick Street in Stamford, and passenger Jeremy Mella, 22, of Washington Street in Port Chester, NY, were driving around siphoning oil from food establishments without permission.
Police charged the duo with sixth-degree attempted larceny and 6th degree conspiracy to commit larceny. Leon-Castano and Mella were released from custody after posting 10 percent of their $10,000 bond, and scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 1.
