Wilton Police Arrest Log For Aug. 28-Sept. 3

WILTON, CT — Two serious accidents and a DUI were at the top of the Wilton Police Department's blotter this past week.

Police stopped a Ford Fusion moving 72 mph in a 40 mph zone on Sunday at 1:10 in the morning. According to their report, the 22-year-old driver Pedro Aguilar Madrid of Lipton Place in Stamford was found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Madrid submitted to chemical testing, which showed his blood alcohol concentration at 0.1911. Connecticut law regards drivers legally intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08 or higher.

Police charged Madrid with speeding and DUI.

Madrid was scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 13, and released from custody after he posted 10 percent of the $250 bond.

A woman was injured in a four-car crash in the area of Danbury Road and Catalpa Road just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to police, a 2021 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on Catalpa Road turned left onto Danbury Road, failing to yield to oncoming traffic. A 2017 Kia Sorento traveling southbound on Danbury Road hit the Honda and flipped over, striking a 2011 Mazda 6i stopped in the northbound left lane, coming to rest on its driver's side. As a result of the impact, the Mazda was pushed back into a 2016 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van.

The KIA, Honda and Mazda had to be towed from the scene.

The 27-year-old Fairfield woman who drove the KIA was taken to Norwalk Hospital to treat what police suspect were "serious" injuries. The 16-year-old Wilton woman who drove the Honda was also taken to the same hospital, as was the 25-year-old Norwalk woman driving the Mazda.

The Honda driver was issued an infraction for failing to obey a stop sign.

Five people were hospitalized following a head-on collision Wednesday around 4:37 in the afternoon.

A 2009 black Toyota Corolla travelling north on Danbury Road near Kenset Avenue swerved across the double line into the southbound traffic, colliding with a 2018 gray Corolla.

The 79-year-old woman drive and her 80-year-old passenger in the gray Corolla suffered serious injuries, according to police.

The 16-year-old driver of the black Corolla, travelling with two juvenile passengers, was cited for driving without a license, registration, proof of insurance or a front license plate. He was also charged with failure to keep right, and following too closely, resulting in an accident.
