Wilton Police Arrest Log For Feb. 26 - March 3

WILTON, CT — DUI and identity theft topped the Wilton Police Department's arrest log last week.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 3, Wilton police noticed a 2016 Ford Fiesta not moving in the northbound lane of Mountain Road.

After further investigation, officers saw the car had suffered heavy front end damage. The driver, a 37-year-old Silver Spring Road resident, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.

The driver told police he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel, and failed to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to standard. Consecutive chemical tests revealed blood alcohol content levels of 0.2116 and 0.20018. Adults in Connecticut with BACs of .08 or higher are considered legally intoxicated.

The motorist was charged with DUI, afforded the opportunity to pay 7 percent of his $250 bond and scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on March 11.

On Feb. 29, the Wilton Police Department arrested a 23-year-old New Haven man by warrant for his involvement in a mail theft and check fraud investigation from 2022. Police say the man deposited stolen and forged checks into a collusive account belonging to a woman, who had been previously arrested in September 2023.

Police charged the man with second-degree larceny, second-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, and first-degree identity theft. He was issued a court-set bond of $100,000, which he was unable to post, and was scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on March 1.
