After speaking with the driver, officers noted the 35-year-old Bethel woman "appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs" in their report. She subsequently failed to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to standard and was placed under arrest for DUI. Later chemical testing revealed consecutive blood alcohol concentration levels of 0.1033 and 0.0917. Connecticut residents 21 and older are considered to be legally intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08 or higher.

In addition to DUI, police charged the woman with traveling unreasonably fast, and scheduled her to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 4. She was released from custody after posting a $250 bond.
