Wilton Police Blotter For Dec. 26- Jan. 1

WILTON, CT — The Wilton Police Department finished out 2022 with a shoplifting incident and a trio of car accidents.

On Dec. 29 at 2:12 p.m., Wilton police apprehended a man wanted with regard to a shoplifting incident in Wilton 10 days earlier.

Police charged Michael C. Hernandez, 27, of Pond Lily Avenue in New Haven with third-degree larceny. He was held on a $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on the following day.

On Dec. 30 at 11:29 a.m., Wilton police received a report of a woman "driving all over the road." The investigating officers found a 2011 Audi A5 Quattro Prem Plus traveling south in the area of Horseshoe Road, and pulled it over.

Police said the driver, Tracy Bell, 53, of E Godfrey Road in Weston, "appeared to be intoxicated" and placed her under arrest. Bell provided police with two breath samples, indicating blood alcohol content of 0.3177 and 0.3223, according to their report.

Bell was charged with evading responsibility (injury/property damage), failure to stay in the proper lane, and DUI. She was released on the same day after posting a $250 bond and scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 13.

Darayne Sullins, 40, of Benham Avenue in Bridgeport, was taken to the hospital on Dec. 26 after running a red light in the area of Chestnut Hill Road and Westport Road. Sullins drove her 2018 Ford Fusion through the red light and hit a 2017Ford Explorer in the intersection, according to police.

On Christmas Eve, at around 4:30 p.m., Wilton police officers responded to a two car crash at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Road and Dudley Road.

Maria Cortinovis, 56, of Orlando Avenue in Stamford, failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection and drove her 2013 Mazda 3 into the front of a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee as it was turning, according to the report.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Norwalk Hospital. Cortinovis was issued an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign.
