WILTON, CT — Two different motorists, one driving above and the other significantly below the posted speed limits, attracted the unwanted attention of the Wilton police over the weekend.

On May 19, Sunday morning at around 8:35, police stopped a 2005 BMW at the intersection of Danbury Road and Old Mill Road for moving at 68 mph in a 40 mph zone. During the investigation that followed, police found a plastic bag containing loose orange pills and detected an odor of marijuana.

Further investigation yielded more pills, a total of seven, which were later identified as Amphetamine and Dextoamphetamine 20 mg pills.

Police arrested the driver, Ivan L. Guevara, 25, of Windaway Road in Danbury, and charged
him with speeding and possession of narcotics. He was issued a $500 bond and scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 30.

Also on May 19, police stopped a driver for moving too slowly. Jose Luis Rivera, 34, of Harbor Avenue in Norwalk, was pulled over as his 1998 Ford Explorer was swaying from side to side and he was hitting the brakes "constantly," according to the police report.

In the investigation that followed, police learned that there was a prior arrest warrant notification out on Rivera for failing to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on a prior DUI charge.

Rivera was taken into custody and later released on a $2,500 bond, and scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 30.
