Wilton Police Blotter: Underage Drinking, DUI, CVS Robbery

Wilton police are reporting a busy first week of March.

WILTON, CT — The police have reported several DUIs, as well as a pharmacy robbery and underage drinking on Nutmeg Lane.

On Feb. 29 at 1:45 a.m., police observed a 2016 Ford Fiesta speeding above the limit and traversing the double yellow line while moving westbound on Millstone Road.

Police stopped the car, and determined that the driver, Griffin Ludwig, 33, of Silverspring Road in Wilton, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to their report. Police also say he failed a field sobriety test.

Ludwig was taken to Wilton Police HQ where he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.2217. Police charged him with speeding, DUI, failure to keep to the right, and driving without his glasses. Ludwig was released after paying 10 percent of the $250 bond that was set, and scheduled to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on March 9.

On March 6, at around 2:20 in the morning, police responded to a report of an accident on Sharp Hill Road. Upon investigating, police say the driver, Aine Duffy, 22, of Hurlbutt Street, was driving under the influence of alcohol and crashed her 2016 Honda Civic into a brook off the side of the road.

Duffy was taken to Norwalk hospital. Police applied for and received a search warrant for the blood toxicology test performed there, which they say revealed that Duffy had an elevated blood alcohol content of 0.19. Police charged her with DUI, and failure to keep right. Duffy was released on a promise to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on March 17.

A little after 5:30 in the afternoon on March 5, police answered a 911 call from a motorist reporting a 2006 Toyota Scion traveling north on Danbury Road in the area of Wilton High School "in an erratic fashion." The caller reported seeing the car leave the road with both passenger side tires at one point.

After police stopped the car near Cannon Road, they suspected that the motorist, Mauro Juanacio-Yuqui, 36, of Willow Street in Danbury, was driving under the influence, according to their report. Police requested the assistance of a Spanish-speaking officer from Norwalk, as Juanacio-Yuqui "spoke very little English."

Police say that Juanacio-Yuqui failed a field sobriety, and his blood alcohol content was tested at 0.227 at 7:07 pm., and 0.213 at 7:30 p.m. He was charged with DUI, and held on a $250 bond.

Juanacio-Yuqui is scheduled to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on March 16.

At around 9:00 p.m. on March 5, police say two men entered the CVS at 93 Old Ridgefield Road and stole 83 items worth $1,756.25.

Store surveillance footage showed the suspects wait for the cosmetic employee to walk away from her aisle and then remove items from two end-cap displays as well as a third display along the back wall.

Police request that anyone with any information contact them at 203-834-6260.

On March 6, police responded to a call about underage drinking at a Nutmeg Lane residence. According to police, the occupant of the house, Jason Lord, 42, "was uncooperative in assisting in checking on the well-being of the kids who were still inside and refused to get them so officers on scene could verify they were not in need of any medical assistance."

Police report that one youth who had been drinking at Lord's house earlier had to be brought to the hospital.

After Lord's wife arranged for all the youths to come outside, police say that "Lord told them to go back to bed and that it is their right not to speak with police."

Police charged Lord with interfering with an officer. He was released from the scene with a promise to appear before Norwalk Superior Court on March 17.
