WILTON, CT — A DUI and a thwarted escape from justice were at the top of the Wilton Police Department blotter this past week.

On Saturday, at around 6:00 p.m., police officers responded to a report of an intoxicated woman driving erratically northbound on Danbury Road.

Police found Blanca Pauta, 30, of Main Street in Danbury seated inside her 2003 Nissan Altima at the Shell station at 912 Danbury Road. Pauta failed the standardized field sobriety test, according to the police report, then submitted to chemical testing. Her consecutive blood alcohol levels of 0.3351 and 0.3313 were over 4 times the legal limit of .08, according to police.

Police charged Pauta with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a license and failure to maintain proper lane. Pauta is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Monday and was released from custody on a $1,000 bond.

On Mar. 1, shortly after 9:30 a.m., Wilton police answered a complaint about a truck blocking a roadway, only to discover there was an arrest warrant outstanding for the truck driver.

Police found Kyle Campbell, 33, of Pine Rock Avenue in Hamden, disrupting traffic on Westport Road in the area of Heather Lane. Campbell was attempting to make a delivery of building materials to a nearby residence using a forklift that was attached to his 2020 Kenworth Motors semi truck.

An officer assisted Campbell by directing traffic while he completed his delivery, only to learn the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by New Haven Superior Court in 2017 for second degree failure to appear.

Campbell was taken to Wilton Police Headquarters where he was fingerprinted, photographed and released the same day after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Mar. 14.
