Wilton Police Investigate 'Road Rage' Incident

Police say that one of the men gave them a false identity, as he was recently released from prison in Georgia after serving 7 years.

WILTON, CT — Police detained a man after a road rage incident turned into a bare knuckle brawl on Wednesday.

The Wilton Police Department was received a report of a "road rage" incident where two motorists exited their vehicles and began fist fighting at 9:45 a.m.

Police found Jose A. Castro-Berrios, 50, of Parrot Avenue in Bridgeport, and Jerry Ramos, 25, of Reservoir Avenue in Bridgeport, had pulled over in the parking lot of Glengate at 221 Danbury Road in Wilton.

The men offered the officers conflicting stories on how the fight started, according to the police report.

During the investigation, police say they learned Ramos had originally identified himself as "Juan Hernandez." Ramos told police he lied because he was recently released from prison in Georgia after serving 7 years, was now on probation, and was afraid he would be arrested for assault and be sent back to prison.

Ramos did not show any visible physical injuries, and Castro showed minor lacerations to his face, according to the police report. Castro opted not to press charges, police said.

Police charged Ramos with driving without a license and interfering with an investigation. Ramos was held on a $1000 bond, processed, and later released the same day after posting bond. He is expected to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 17.
