Wilton Police Make Multiple Drug-Related Arrests on Sunday

Two local drivers, and a Maryland man, were pulled over on Sunday.

WILTON, CT — Police made two arrests, and issued a summons, following multiple drug-related incidents in town on Sunday.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, police stopped a Hyundai Sonata after observing that it failed to stay in its proper lane, according to a report. After investigation, police asked Tyler Destefano, 28, of New Haven Avenue in Milford to take a field sobriety test, suspecting he had been drinking alcohol.

Destefano failed the test, police said, was arrested, and transported to Wilton Police HQ. There he was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, failure to return his driver's license, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Destefano refused a breath test at the police station, and was released with a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 10.

Later on Sunday, an officer saw a Subaru Impreza with a suspended registration traveling northbound on Danbury Road in the area of Ridgefield Road. Police stopped the car, and made contact with the driver, Asia Andrews, 25, of Topstone Drive in Danbury.

Police said they could detect an odor of marijuana in the car. The passenger, Darryl Mourning, 28, of Rose Lane in Danbury, admitted to being in possession of marijuana. Police searched the Subaru and say they found 4.9 grams of it.

Andrews was issued a misdemeanor summons for driving with suspended registration, and Mourning was issued a citation for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Finally, police received a complaint about a Chevy Trailblazer travelling erratically, narrowly missing a guardrail southbound on Danbury Road. At around 9:14 p.m. on Sunday, police observed the Chevy swerve into another lane, and then stopped it.

Police reported they could smell alcohol on the driver, Joel Perdomo-Suarez, 43, of Hollingsworth Manor, Elkton, Maryland. The Police requested that Perdomo-Suarez perform a field sobriety test, which he failed, according to their report.

Police transported Perdomo-Suarez back to the station, where he was found to have a blood alcohol count of 0.1604.

Perdomo-Suarez was charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane. He posted his bail of $260 and was given an Oct. 10 court date at Norwalk Superior.
