Wilton Police Nab Norwalk Man for Identity Theft, Forgery

The arrest came after an investigation that lasted more than 15 months.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a Norwalk man for theft and forgery following a lengthy investigation.

The inquiry began on July 19, 2018, when Wilton police were alerted to the theft and forgery of check from a local residence. The check was stolen out of the mail and then forged and deposited into another account for over $13,000, according to the police report.

Over the course of the investigation, police say they learned that Eric Christian, of Michael Street in Norwalk, had deposited the forged check and taken out the money through multiple ATM withdrawals.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Christian, and he was apprehended and held by Foxwoods Tribal police on Nov. 7. Wilton police officers transported him to Wilton Police Headquarters, where he was processed and charged with third-degree forgery and first-degree identity theft.

Christian was released on a $35,000 bond scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 19.
