PHOTOS: Windsor Takes Part in 'Wreaths Across America Day'
The ceremony featured the laying of 100 wreaths.
The Hispanic-American Veterans of Connecticut, Inc. (HAVOCT), Windsor’s American Legion Post #59, and Carmon Community Funeral Homes of Windsor hosted a Wreaths Across America wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Featured were a color guard and members of the clergy and veterans, followed by the ceremonial laying of 100 wreaths by Carmon Community Funeral Homes family and staff, local veterans, Boy Scout troops, and other town residents.
Photo #1 – Windsor resident Ted Groenstein, a veteran of the U.S. Marines, was one of many local residents who observed “National Wreaths Across America Day” by placing wreaths on the graves of veterans following the Windsor ceremony. During the ceremony, Groenstein also had the honor of carrying forward and laying a wreath in memory of all Marines.

Photo #2 – Kristi Petrozzi of Windsor places a wreath on the grave of her father-in-law, Michael J. Petrozzi, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Photo #3 – Windsor resident John C. “Jay” Carmon, Jr. of Carmon Community Funeral Homes, one of the event’s coordinators, lays a wreath on the grave of his grandfather, Frank W. Carmon, Jr., a decorated WW II hero who founded the funeral home in 1946.
