• OVPD chief pens children's book about Lord Baltimore Elementary (coastalpoint.com) — Ocean View Police Chief Ken McLaughlin has written a children’s book set at Lord Baltimore Elementary to help new kindergarteners feel more comfortable and introduce them to the school resource officer. Funded by the police department and shared at Kinder Camp and local libraries, the project also supports literacy and highlights how Ocean View officers mentor students and promote reading.
   

• Cops & Goblins gets green light for 2026 (coastalpoint.com) — Ocean View has secured enough sponsorships and leftover golf tournament funds to keep its popular Cops & Goblins Halloween festival going in 2026 at John West Park. The free, family-focused event on Oct. 24 will feature food, rides, a petting zoo, and a costume contest, while town leaders and police emphasize its value for community outreach and positive connections with officers.
   

• Warriors have week of appreciation, making memories (coastalpoint.com) — Families of post‑9/11 wounded veterans spent Warrior Beach Week based out of Ocean View’s Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234, enjoying parades, beach housing, local outings, and time together. Operation SEAs the Day and the Freeman Foundation used the week to honor veterans and their families, emphasizing appreciation, community support, and hope on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
