2 Face Murder Charges In 2 Separate Fatal Shootings In DC: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives arrested two suspects last week in connection with two recent fatal shootings, one involving 46-year-old Charlie Miller of no fixed address and the other 30-year-old Deshaun Cupid of Northeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

On Wednesday, police arrested 55-year-old Howard Fritts of no fixed address and charged him with second degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of Miller.

Officers from MPD's Second District responded to the 900 block of 9th Street, Northwest around 2:31 a.m., on May 29, for the report of the sound of gunshots. Officers found Miller suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he died.

In the second case, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 20-year-old Dominique Brown-Young of Southeast on Friday. He was charged with first degree murder while armed in connection with Cupid's death on March 10.

Officers found Cupid around 6:03 p.m., inside a vehicle in the 700 block of 18th Street, Northeast. Suffering from a gunshot wound, she was taken to the hospital for treatment but later died from her injury.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
