2 People Killed, 3 Injured In Congress Heights Shooting: Police
A shooting near the Congress Heights Metro station in Southeast D.C. Wednesday afternoon left two people dead and three people injured.
WASHINGTON, DC — A shooting near the Congress Heights Metro station in Southeast D.C. Wednesday afternoon left two people dead and three people injured, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
D.C. police received reports around 1:30 p.m. of a shooting in the 1300 block of Congress Street and Savannah Street, the MPD said.
Gunshots were fired after a dispute started between two groups of people, D.C. Acting Police Chief Robert J. Contee III said at a news briefing at the scene of the shooting. The three injured people are expected to survive, the acting chief said.

At the news briefing, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the police need all the information than can get from residents so that they can catch the people responsible for the violence.

One adult man and one adult woman were killed in the shooting, Contee said. The injured victims also appear to be adults, he said.

The police have not made any arrests yet in the shooting. The public can call the MPD at 202-727-9099 or text 50411 if they have information. There is a $25,000 reward for information on the case, police said.
