3rd Arrest Made In Homicide Of 11-year-old Davon McNeal

D.C. Police arrested a third individual in connection with the fatal shooting of Davon McNeal following a July 4 Peace Cookout in Anacostia.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a third suspect in the fatal shooting of 11-year-old Davon McNeal following a July 4 Peace Cookout in Anacostia, according to a police release. Police are still looking for a fourth suspect wanted in this case.

On July 4, around 9:20 p.m., Seventh District officers were flagged down by a citizen in 1400 block of Cedar Street, S.E., in connection with a shooting, said Police Chief Peter Newsham, during the press briefing. The officers found McNeal outside his family home, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported McNeal to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

MPD subsequently arrested Daryle Bond, of Southeast, and Christian Wingfield, 22, of Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, and charged them with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Wednesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Carlo General, 20, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, and also charged him with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).

General is currently under supervision with the District's Pretrial Services Agency and under Maryland Supervised Probation. In addition, the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia has an active non-extraditable warrant out on General in connection to probation violation. General has to previous arrests in the District, including a felon in possession of a firearm arrest in May.

MPD homicide detectives are also seeking an additional suspect in this case. D.C. Superior Court has issued a first degree murder while armed (premeditated) arrest warrant for Marcel Gordon, 25, of Southeast. Police released a photo of Gordon and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police ask anyone with information about Gordon's location or this shooting incident to call 202-727-9099 or send a text message to 50411. A $25,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division has offered an additional $25,000 reward and the FBI Washington Field Office added a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in this case. This brings the total reward to $55,000. In addition, The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force is offering up to $10,ooo for information that leads to the arrest of each suspect in this case.
