Updated: 3 Pedestrians Struck By Vehicle, Seriously Injured
One adult and two children were seriously injured Tuesday when they were struck by a vehicle in Mount Pleasant.

Updated (Sept. 17, 10 a.m.): This story was updated to reflect new information from the Metropolitan Police Department, saying that three people — one adult and two children — were struck by the vehicle, as opposed to four as was originally reported. The injuries are also now being described as being "non-life threatening" instead of "serious or possibly critical."
WASHINGTON, DC — Three pedestrians were injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by vehicle as they crossed a street in the Mount Pleasant area.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department and D.C. Fire and EMS units were dispatched around 4:55 p.m., to the intersection of 18th and Newton Streets, Northwest, for the report of three pedestrians being struck by a vehicle.

FEMS transported one adult and two children to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
"The striking vehicle remained on the scene, but the driver fled on foot," said Officer Hugh Carew, an MPD public information officer. "It's still under investigation."
