Bystanders Pull Victims From Burning Car Near Capitol: Police
A civilian helped a Supreme Court Police Officer pull two people from the car after it crashed at East Capitol Street and 2nd Street.
WASHINGTON, DC — Two people were pulled from a fiery crash near the U.S. Capitol early Saturday and the car's driver is accused of driving under the influence, according to the United States Capitol Police.
The victims were pulled from the car by a civilian and a Supreme Court Police officer.
Zoe Williams, 22, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta west on East Capitol Street around 2 a.m. when she crossed 2nd Street NE, ran over traffic cones and crashed into a raised barricade, where the car caught fire, according to authorities.

The two bystanders who saw the crash stopped and pulled both victims from the crash. DC Fire and EMS put out the car fire and took the driver and the passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Williams, who is from Maryland, is charged with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle with improper tags, according to authorities.
