Prince George's County Animal Services Facility & Adoption Center

🚨 Please help save dogs and cats today by applying to adopt or foster! An ongoing overcrowding crisis at PG County Animal Shelter resulted in a devastating loss of 16 dogs euthanized for space one day in mid-October! More adoptable dogs were euthanized since then! There was no urgent list notice for transparency to rescue partners and community members! There is no list this week either.
📢 Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed today for dogs and cats! Please go meet and adopt them or apply to foster them. Dogs are at risk of being euthanized a any time only due to space. They are over capacity with dogs and need space for more dogs coming in. There is a no urgent list this week to provide a chance and have time to help save them.
🐶 Adopters: Please go to the shelter Friday (11am to 7pm, arrive by 6pm) and Saturday (10am to 4pm, arrive by 3pm). Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets.
***Please consider signing this petition to add adoption hours on Sundays and Mondays and make other changes in hours.*** change.org/p/open-the-doors-save-more-lives-reform-prince-george-s-county-animal-shelter-hours
Note: Adopters of pit bulls: Review the requirements and complete the Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hour) before going to adopt Pit Bull Terriers and specific bully-type breeds. 🐶 Prospective fosters: Fosters through the shelter and rescues are needed for dogs and cats. Please apply with rescue partners, or contact the shelter to be a foster and save a life. The Friends of PG County Animal Shelter posts about dogs which need fosters through the shelter or otherwise through rescues. Fostering is usually free with a rescue.
Please review the shelter foster information, apply online and complete Pet Parenting Certification. Contact the shelter with the dog's name and ID. 👻 Join us for costumes, cupcakes, candy, campaign and Congress at our Spooktacular Camp Congress for Girls DC 2026! 👻
Spooktacular Camp Congress for Girls DC 2026 is a leadership program that introduces girls to U.S. politics. Camp begins with a lesson on the structure of our political system. Each girl will choose to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives, the US Senate or for the presidency. She will create her own campaign with a platform, campaign finance plan, and film a political ad. All campers will register to vote and then vote in an election. Once elected to Congress and sworn in, the newly installed members of Congress will learn how to introduce a bill, debate the merits of the bill, lobby fellow legislators, collaborate with the Executive branch and finally vote on the proposed bill. Camp will culminate with a ceremonial signing of the bill by our Ms. President. All participants will receive Certificate of Completion.
Tickets limited, early registration recommended. All students get a GIP shirt, deluxe Halloween themed treat bag and cupcake. For additional information contact us at +1 866-277-2123 extension 1, via email at info@girlsinpolitics.com or visit our website at girlsinpolitics.com. Ticketing options for students ages 8-11 and 12-17.
