DC Man Who Stabbed Former Girlfriend To Death With Screwdriver Sentenced

Robert Dean was sentenced Friday in federal court after being convicted of stabbing his former girlfriend to death with a screwdriver.

WASHINGTON, DC — Robert Dean, 64, of Washington, D.C. was sentenced in federal court on Friday to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing his former girlfriend with a screwdriver in 2018, according to a release.

Last November, Dean was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Tamiya White, his former girlfriend.

Shortly before 5:04 p.m., on March 31, 2018, Dean stabbed White with a screwdriver in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Mount Oliver Road, Northeast, according to the evidence presented at Dean's trial. Police say White, whose two children were in an apartment at the time, drove to a nearby McDonalds for help. She later died.

Dean has been in custody since he was arrested on April 5, 2018.
