DC Men Face Fentanyl Distribution Charges: Officials
Two men have been indicted on federal drug distribution charges related to an operation in northeast Washington.

WASHINGTON, DC — Two men have been indicted on federal drug distribution charges related to an operation in northeast Washington, the Department of Justice announced.
Nathaniel Scruggs, 37, and Andrew Cooper, 46, were arrested last week and indicted Wednesday, Nov. 17, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Scruggs was charged with six counts of unlawful distribution of fentanyl and heroin, and Cooper was charged with five counts of distribution of fentanyl, a news release stated. Both men have a court appearance Nov. 22, 2021.
Law enforcement agencies began investigating Scruggs and Cooper last spring after they were linked to drug sales and overdose investigations, the news release said.

Court documents show law enforcement seized more than 400 grams of suspected fentanyl from Cooper's residence when agents executed a search warrant. The agents also found fake OxyContin pills, cocaine, more than $74,000 in cash, three cell phones, and a firearm at Cooper's residence, the news release stated.
Agents seized four cell phones and $1,200 in cash from Scruggs's residence, the news release stated.
