Ex-Police Officer Arrested After Showing Fake Badge Outside US Capitol
A Michigan man was arrested Tuesday morning outside the U.S. Capitol after he showed a fake "Department of INTERPOL" badge to officers.
WASHINGTON, DC —A retired New York police officer with high-capacity magazines and body armor was arrested outside the U.S. Capitol on Friday morning after he presented a fake badge to U.S. Capitol Police officers, according to a release.
Jerome Felipe, 53, of Flint, Michigan is facing charges of unlawful possession of high capacity magazines and unregistered ammunition, according to police.
Officers approached Felipe around 5 a.m., after he had parked his 2017 Dodge Charger near Peace Circle, on the West side of the Capitol.

During their conversation, Felipe showed the officers a badge with the words "Department of INTERPOL" printed on it. He identified himself as a criminal investigator with the agency, according to police.
After gaining Felipe's permission to search the vehicle, officers found a BB gun, two ballistic vests, several high capacity magazines and other ammunition. However, no real guns were found in the Charger.

USCP is working to determine why Felipe parked his car near the Capitol on Friday.
