Felony Murder Charge Filed Against MD Man In May 10 Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives arrested a Baltimore, Maryland man in connection with the May 10 fatal shooting of 38-year-old James Curtis of Southeast, according to a police release.

On Monday, police charged 19-year-old Ethan Cunningham, of Baltimore with first degree murder while armed – felony murder in Curtis' death.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District were called to Barry Farm area around 9:30 p.m., on May 10, for the report of a shooting. The officers found Curtis, suffering from a gunshot wound, in the 2600 block of Stanton Road, Southeast. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
