Suspect In Fatal Shooting At 2020 Gender Reveal Party Extradited To DC By US Marshals
A man wanted for the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Demetris Johnson at a 2021 gender reveal party was returned to D.C. by U.S. Marshals.
WASHINGTON, DC — Nyjell Outler, a 19-year-old Northeast man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a 2021 gender reveal party in D.C., was extradited to the District from Florida on Wednesday, authorities said.
Outler was charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the death of 21-year-old Demetris Johnson of Southeast.
Police found Johnson and another man suffering from gunshot wounds around 7:44 p.m. on March 20, 2021. The victims were attending a gender reveal party at an establishment in the unit block of Madison Street, Northeast.

Emergency medical personnel declared Johnson dead and took the other victim to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threating injuries.
At the time of the shootings, Outler was wearing an ankle monitor as part of a pre-trial release on a gun charge that involved an AK-47-style rifle, according to authorities.

A U.S. Marshal Service-led fugitive task force arrested Outler on Feb. 22, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Both the Marshal Service and Metro Police had posted $25,000 rewards for the capture Outler, who was added to the federal agency's 15 Most Wanted List last month.
Once Outler was back in D.C., MPD charged him in three other cases:
- Assault with a dangerous weapon - A man and a juvenile male were shot around 8:45 p.m., on Oct. 1, 2020, in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, N.E. The victims were treated for their injuries at a nearby hospital, according to police.
- Robbery - On Feb. 14, 2021, two suspects confronted an employee of a business in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, N.E. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the employee. Both suspects left the business with the employee's property, according to police
- Attempt to commit robbery - A suspect pointed a gun at an employee of a business in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E. The suspects left the business without taking any property, according to police.
