13-Year-Old Boy Among Five People Injured In Shooting In Front Of Southeast DC Store
Five people, including a 13-year-old boy, were injured when a man opened fire on a group of people in front of a store in Southeast D.C.
WASHINGTON, DC — Five people, including a 13-year-old boy, were injured Tuesday morning when a man opened fire on a group of people in front of a convenience store on Alabama Ave. in Southeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The shooting happened shortly after 8:35 a.m. in front of the store in the 2200 block of Alabama Ave. near Suitland Parkway.
When the police arrived, they found three victims at the scene. Two other people showed up later at an area hospital, D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee III said at a news briefing Tuesday morning at the scene of the shooting.

"When someone brazenly fires into a crowd of people, striking five innocent people in this instance, that’s unacceptable," Contee said. “I’m pleading for the community’s help."
The police are looking for a lone gunman who showed up in front of the store while walking from 22nd St. SE. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, gray sneakers, and a dark-colored hoodie, Contee said.

Along with the 13-year-old, two men and two women were wounded in the shooting. Most had gunshot wounds to the lower body. One of the men was shot in the chest and was in critical but stable condition, D.C. police said.
