Man Killed On Metro Train: Police

WASHINGTON — A dispute turned deadly Sunday morning on a Green Line Metro train, according to police.
Authorities responded shortly before noon to a shooting aboard a train at the Navy Yard station, police said.
“Unfortunately, despite lifesaving measures, the adult male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Metro Transit Police said in a tweet.

The incident began with an argument between two men at the L’Enfant Plaza station that continued on a train and resulted in one man shooting the other en route to Waterfront, where the gunman fled, according to The Washington Post.
The shooter remained at large later Sunday but police did have a person of interest, the Post reported.

Normal service had resumed at Navy Yard as of about 5 p.m., after several hours of disruptions related to the shooting, according to tweets from the Metro’s rail system.
The incident follows a shooting earlier in the month on a Wheaton Metro station platform, which resulted in the death of 18-year-old Tenneson Vaughn Leslie Jr., according to the Post, which noted Metro crime has spiked significantly year-over-year so far in 2023.
