Man Arrested After Striking Metrobus Driver In Face With Pistol: Police

A man who struck a Metrobus driver in the face several times with a pistol Tuesday night has been arrested, according to Metro Police.

WASHINGTON, DC — A man who struck a Metrobus driver in the face several times with a gun Tuesday night has been arrested, according to the Metro Transit Police Department.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man tried to open the rear door of a Metrobus operating on the A2 route near the Southern Avenue Metro Station in Southeast D.C.

The suspect then walked to the front door, boarded the bus with a gun drawn, and struck the bus driver numerous times in the face with the weapon, Metro Police said.

The bus driver was able to get off the bus and was then taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

The Metro Police arrested a suspect and recovered a gun shortly after the incident, the department said.
