WASHINGTON, DC — A medical helicopter airlifted a man who attempted to set himself on fire near the Supreme Court early Friday evening, according to a Twitter post by Chad Pergram, a Fox News congressional reporter.

U.S. Park Police told Pergram the helicopter had landed on the steps of the Supreme Court steps for a man who had tried to light himself on fire, according to a tweet.

U.S. Capitol Police temporarily closed First Street between Constitution and Independence Avenue and East Capitol Street between First Street at Second Street to facilitate the airlift, according to a USCP tweet. The streets have since reopened.
