Man Who Forced Victim To Drive To Multiple ATMs At Gunpoint Sentenced
Kareem Davis, 21, of Washington, D.C. was sentenced for robbing a man and forcing him at gunpoint to withdraw money at multiple ATMs.
WASHINGTON, DC — A 21-year-old D.C. man was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison for robbing and forcing a victim to drive to various ATMs at gunpoint to withdraw money, according to a release.
Kareem Davis pleaded guilty on Oct. 14, 2021 to a federal kidnapping charge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After completing his prison term, he will serve five years of supervised release.
On Sept. 12, 2020, the then 25-year-old victim drove to 3800 block of 9th Street, Southeast, where he expected to meet a young woman he had met the day before. Instead, police say that Davis approached the car, tapped on the passenger window and told the victim to open the door.

Once Davis sat in the front passenger seat, he asked the victim if he were there to see his "sister." Davis then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and demanded money, according to police.
The victim gave Davis $216 and change from the car's cupholders. Davis threatened to kill the victim if he didn't receive more money. He then forced the victim to drive to various ATMs in D.C. and Maryland to withdraw approximately $1,500, according to police.

After visiting the final ATM, Davis told the victim to drive back to 9th Street, Southeast. When the arrived at 9th Street, the driver turned on the car's cruise control and jumped out of the moving vehicle. He then fled on foot and called 911, according to authorities.
Davis has been in custody since his arrest on Oct. 7, 2020.
