MS-13 Affiliate From Oxon Hill Sentenced For Weapons Trafficking

Wilber "Solitario" Vigil-Benitez, who was an MS-13 affiliate, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court on multiple weapons charges.

WASHINGTON, DC — MS-13 affiliate Wilber “Solitario” Vigil-Benitez was sentenced in federal court Wednesday to seven years in prison on multiple weapons charges, according to court documents.

The 26-year-old Oxon Hill, Maryland, man pleaded guilty last November to seven counts of the illegal possession of firearms including weapons trafficking, authorities say.

The charges against Vigil-Benitez stemmed from an undercover investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department. From September 2017 to April 2018, Vigil-Benitez sold 13 firearms to undercover officers outside a convenience store in the District, according to court documents. Among the weapons police say they purchased from Vigil-Benitez were an assault rifle and a semiautomatic handgun with a large-capacity magazine.
