New Coronavirus Cases In DC Double Previous Day's Number

D.C. Health confirmed 237 new coronavirus cases Thursday, doubling the number of new cases reported on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Department of Health confirmed five new deaths Thursday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 412.

D.C. Health also confirmed 237 new positive COVID-19 cases, more than twice the 117 new cases reported on Wednesday. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the District stands at 7,788.

  • 67-year-old female
  • 67-year-old male

  • 82-year-old female
  • 89-year-old female

D.C. Health has confirmed 41,756 District residents have been tested for the coronavirus and 1,061 have recovered. Contact tracing investigations are focused positive cases tied to health care workers and first responders, senior care facilities, correctional and detention centers, child care facilities and facilities serving homeless individuals.

Globally, more than 5 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 328,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Thursday morning. In the United States, more than 1.5 million people have been infected and over 93,000 people have died from COVID-19.
