DC Coronavirus Deaths Near 400; 7,270 Confirmed Cases
D.C. Department of Health confirmed nine new deaths of District residents due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus.
WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Department of Health confirmed nine new deaths Monday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 392.
D.C. Health also confirmed 147 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall total to 7,270.
The new deaths in the District are described as:

- 42-year-old male
- 63-year-old male
- 73-year-old female
- 77-year-old male
- 82-year-old female
- 87-year-old male
- 91-year-old male
- 91-year-old female
- 93-year-old female
D.C. Health has confirmed 37,825 District residents have been tested for the coronavirus and 1,028 have recovered. Contact tracing investigations are focused positive cases tied to health care workers and first responders, senior care facilities, correctional and detention centers, child care facilities and facilities serving homeless individuals.
On Wednesday, May 13, Mayor Muriel Bowser extended her stay-at-home order three weeks. The original order was due to expire on Friday. District residents will need to stay at home and non-essential business will continue to remain closed through Monday, June 8.

Globally, more than 4.7 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 315,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Monday morning. In the United States, more than 1.4 million people have been infected and over 89,000 people have died from COVID-19.
