Third Suspect Arrested In Series Of Armed-Kidnappings Across DC

D.C. police arrested a third suspect in a series of armed kidnappings across the District that also included a 14-year-old suspect.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a third suspect in a series of armed-kidnappings across D.C. where the victims were grabbed off the street and forced to withdraw money from ATMs.

On Tuesday, Taheed Ebron, 20, of Northeast D.C. was arrested and charged with two cases of kidnapping while armed.

Last week, a 14-year-old boy was the first person arrested and charged in connection with the series of armed-kidnappings. On Monday, the D.C. Police arrested the other suspect, Nathan Coleman, 28, of Northwest D.C.

The kidnappings occurred on Capitol Hill, near Logan Circle, in Petworth and in Northeast D.C. In some cases, the victims were blindfolded, and their hands bound with zip ties

Ebron was charged with kidnapping while armed for an incident at about 3:45 a.m. on Aug. 28 where he and other suspects approached a victim in the 500 block of 13th Street NE. The suspects brandished firearms and forced the victim into a car. The suspects drove the victim to an ATM and obtained the victim's account information. They withdrew funds from the victim's bank account and then released the victim.

In a separate incident, Ebron and the other suspects allegedly approached a victim on Aug. 24 at around 10:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Corcoran Street NW.

One of the suspects brandished a handgun and additional suspects forced the victim inside a vehicle. The suspects drove the victim to multiple ATMs and withdrew funds from the victim's bank accounts. The suspects then released the victim at another location and fled the scene.

Coleman was charged with three armed kidnappings and an armed robbery in connection with the series of attacks.

The D.C. police said the cases remain under investigation.
